One of the funniest pieces of fan fiction I ever read was a parody of BADfanfic love scenes. She brilliantly skewered every cliche, every typical grammatical error, every common typo and word usage mistake, and then ended every single paragraph with ellipses. It was hysterical.

It also made me so ellipses-phobic that for a while there it actually cramped my own writing style. Because, after all, sometimes ellipses are actually... you know... appropriate....

And sometimes not.
