is fascinating: a fossil bed which seems to have been laid down within an hour of the Chicxulub impact - a Cretaceous Pompeii. (H/t to Christine Forber.)

Fascinating indeed. I had seen another article about this discovery, if it turns out to be a valid discovery; thank you and Dr. Forber.
As Larry Niven put it, the dinosaurs died out because they didn’t have a space program.

Some of the paleontologists online are dubious. Still, if it turns out to be valid, it's marvelous.
