Totes!

The big grocery box I take for my major shopping runs at Schnucks is nearing the end of its useful life - it's beginning to tear at the bottom. Shop'n'Save used to sell them cheap - $.99 at first, later $1.50, and they'd last a year or two. Unfortunately, Schnucks doesn't carry them. I'll have to find another source.

An online search shows that Amazon sells grocery totes, but they're pretty expensive. They'd have to last multiple years to be worthwhile. Has anyone tried them, or is there another source I've overlooked?

MEC ("Mountain Equipment Co-op", http://mec.ca) and REI (http://www.rei.com) have variously heavy-duty shopping totes.

The old MEC version, of which I have a dozen or so, are good for in excess of ten years continuous service. I have not tried the new version. (But it's post-brain-eater, so I wouldn't have similar expectations.)

I have got a year out of https://www.varusteleka.com/en/product/jama-m05-tote-bag/55440 so far; no sign of wear. I'd prefer slightly longer handles because it's hard to stuff the handles up over my shoulder in winter jackets. (Spring-and-fall jackets, not so much of a problem.)

You're welcome!

The great thing about some of the camping ones is that they're really designed to be filled with rocks and used as a shelter anchor. This is massive overkill for groceries but leads to a long service life.

Have you looked into wheeled shopping carts? Family Dollar near us has them for about $25. I got one on eBay a few years ago for $10 + shipping [came out under $20].
