You know that I am not admirer of Trump, but Ruth Graham has an article in Slate saying that this is actually in accordance with the Flag Code.

Yes, it is. It is not, however, in accord with recent practice. Senators Inouye and Kennedy were honored with half-staff flags until their interment, and many people on both sides of the aisle felt that Senator McCain deserved no less.
