[Sound of telephone ringing]
"Hello?"
"Professor ____?"
"Yes."
"Are you going to be in your office in about ten minutes? I have some questions about Differential Equations."
"No, I'm afraid not. We could talk about it over the phone, or you could e-mail me."
"Mm, I don't have my book with me. Will you be there later in the afternoon?"
"No, I wasn't planning on coming in today."
(pause) "Did I call you at home?"
"Yeah."
"I'm sorry. I thought I called you at your office. Okay, I'll see you tomorrow."

Either the caller is too clueless to make a mathematician, or clueless enough to make the perfect mathematician :D

To be fair, I had more information than he did, and I didn't pick up on the confusion either. (I did wonder momentarily how he expected me to get to the office in ten minutes...)
