Whoo-o-o-ps!
I don't think we're in California any more....
Last night's "winter mix" left the front walk and driveway a sheet of ice. This morning, going out to pick up the paper, as soon as I stepped onto the (sloping) driveway I went down hard. I had to lever myself over onto the grass before I could regain my footing. Banged my left knee and tore up my big toe a little. (Abrasion only; nothing broken, cut, or even badly torn, but there's blood and a little pain.)
There's not a lot of food in the house; I'll have to make a grocery run. Hope I can do it without taking further punishment.

I've lived in places with real winter for twenty-nine of the last thirty years; I know how to walk. But that stuff this morning was slick.
