Midyear

Well, we're at the halfway point for 2008, so it's time to recap this year's reading. I've finished fifty-five books so far this year, once again well ahead of the previous year's pace. Only eleven of the books have been nonfiction, though, and fourteen have been fiction rereads. Without further ado:

Nonfiction (11):
Mathematics and Natural Science (3): Lisa Randall, Warped Passages; Jason Bardi, The Calculus Wars; J. E. Gordon, The New Science of Strong Materials
History (5): Josephus, The Jewish War; Tom Holland, Persian Fire and Rubicon; de Villiers and Hirtle, Timbuktu; Seymour Martin Lipset, It Didn't Happen Here
Other (3): Andrew Bacevich, The New American Militarism; James Speth, Red Sky at Morning; Jan Johnson-Smith, American Science Fiction TV

Fiction (42):
SF/F (37): R. M. Meluch, Wolf Star; Steven Brust, Dzur and Brokedown Palace; C. S. Friedman, Crown of Shadows and The Wilding; Robert Heinlein, The Door into Summer; Sherwood Smith, Inda; David Weber, Field of Dishonor; Jane Lindskold, Wolf Captured and Wolf Hunting; Harry Turtledove, Drive to the East and The Grapple; Robin McKinley, Deerskin; Jim Butcher, Furies of Calderon, Academ's Fury, Fool Moon, and Grave Peril; Peter Beagle, The Rhinoceros Who Quoted Nietzsche; Roger Zelazny, Lord of Light*; Greg Bear, Eon* and Eternity*; Charles Williams, All Hallows Eve*; Poul Anderson, Satan's Planet*; Carol Kendall, The Gammage Cup*; J. R. R. Tolkien, The Hobbit*, The Fellowship of the Ring*, The Two Towers*, The Return of the King*, and The Silmarillion*; Lois McMaster Bujold, Passage, Beguilement*, and Legacy* (yes, in that order); Lawrence Watt-Evans, The Spriggan Mirror; Eric Flint, 1634: The Ram Rebellion, 1824: The Arkansas War, and 1635: The Cannon Law; Gene Wolfe, Soldier of Sidon

Mystery (4): Lindsey Davis, The Silver Pigs; Mary Stewart, The Gabriel Hounds; Janet Evanovich, High Five; Jasper Fforde, The Big Over Easy

Other (1): Edmond Rostand, Cyrano de Bergerac

Miscellaneous (2): Edward Gorey, Category; Frederick Winsor, The Space Child's Mother Goose

Asterisks, as usual, indicate rereads. I should probably do some reviews.

Hey, "The Door Into Summer"! I really should read that one for the _whiteout_, maybe I can do some really esoteric reference.
