The New Season
With the demise, last year, of "Angel" and "Wonderfalls" and the failure of "Tru Calling", I'm down to three shows that I regularly watch: "Everwood", "Gilmore Girls", and "Joan of Arcadia". So, I'm looking around for replacements. The new season doesn't look all that promising; there are only three shows that look at all appealing to me.
The first, "Jack & Bobby", has already debuted. The first episode was moderately interesting, although I don't find any of the characters particularly appealing (with the possible exception of Courtney). It's a gimmick show, and the gimmick worked fairly well in the first episode; I'm not sure how long they can keep it going, though. For the moment, I'll keep watching, but it's definitely on probation.
The other two newbies are "Veronica Mars" and "Lost", both premiering on Wednesday. We shall see.
The season's first episode of "Everwood", last week, was good, not outstanding. Notable scenes included the fight between Harold and Andy (ostensibly over office renovation), Andy's smackdown for arrogance at the hands of a complete stranger, and Amy's (utterly out-of-character) moment of maturity at the end. The sugar scene was pretty good too, as was Harold's nostalgia-induced freakout. And then there was... Oh, heck. There were plenty of good scenes, but nothing to match the best this show is capable of.
But it's GG and JoA I'm really looking forward to. The season-ending crises (not exactly cliffhangers) will take some time to resolve (especially in the case of JoA). This should be a good week.

We just watched most of the episodes we hadn't seen of last season's Everwood. Both of us agree that Madison's pregnancy was totally gratuitous, superfluous, and lots of other -ous words. Would have been a great episode and wonderful cliffhanger without it. I mean, "see Dr. Brown be really really stupid again"
We missed a few episodes near the end because of taping stupidity, mostly on my part. So what happened with Andy/what's her name? And the insurance debacle with Harold? I'm assuming that the HIV/AIDS thing got out somehow?
And, um, for my benefit, if it's not too much trouble, could you hide Everwood and Gilmore Girls stuff behind a cut, please? I think we'll ge the new seasons eventually, but I don't know when! Thanks in advance!!
The bagel store was hilarious though. :-)

Delia saw Linda taking her AIDS medications and asked if she was sick; Linda explained. Delia then (all innocently) blabbed to Britney, and you can guess the rest. Harold lost his insurance for hiding Linda's condition. Linda eventually decided to go back to Doctors Without Borders and left for Namibia, heartbroken.

Sure. (I should have thought of that already.)

Thanks!! We caught part of the missed stuff, but didn't know for sure.
Poor Linda though. Did Andy make a fuss about her going? Meaning, I thought the relationship was maybe at a point where he'd cling.
Sure. (I should have thought of that already.)
Thanks! And no problem, having someone on your friendslist who's a season or a season and a half behind can be annoying!! :-)
It's really too bad because I'd love to post and discuss the shows while they're happening if I had time. But I'm now going to be always behind. Oh well.

Oh, I left something out. When Ephram found out about Linda's condition, he became very upset. He and Andy had a long and mature (hah!) conversation about what would happen to him and Delia if Andy became ill. Andy resisted at the time, but thought it over afterwards and broke up with Linda. (He still tried to cling, a little, but Linda basically told him to go home.)

That's okay! It's been a while since you saw the episode, so I won't pull out the rubber hose! :-)

That's pretty disappointing. (long and mature conversation, sure, if you say so) I don't think they did a very good job of this season's end. I mean, set up an HIV victim and then have that be the reason to run her out of town? How horrible! Poor Linda.
And I thought the Madison pregnancy was gratuitous. It's pretty clear that the Linda and Madison romances were just a one season thing and they needed to get rid of them. What a way to plan a show. :-(
