Yesterday... wow. This whole area just got hammered. There was just a thin line of storms, stretching northeast-southwest, but moving northeast; it took hours for them to pass. A tornado touched down briefly in Collinsville, just a few miles south of here, and there were others elsewhere. Here, there were intervals of almost continual thunder; Ben, Murphy, and I gathered in a central area, where I stroked and spoke soothingly to them. There were a couple of microblackouts, no more than fifteen seconds each.
I like thunderstorms, actually, but I like them best the way we had them in Tucson. The city sits in a bowl of mountains, and the storms pass around, walking along the ridges but not entering the city.

Today the weather is roughly late-July quality, hot and muggy. I really need to do some yardwork - the rain has encouraged my garden of weeds - but I'm not going out there today.

Too chilly and rainy isn't all that amenable for yard work, either.
