Bye, Ronnie!

Tonight was the two-part series finale of Veronica Mars - two fine episodes, and I'm still processing them. I do want to make note of one small item from the first episode, under the cut for the unspoiled.

The A-plot of the first episode involved forged college ID cards. The forgers, being smartasses, made singularly bad choices of their aliases, and were caught by an alert cashier who recognized the names. The aliases they chose?

Niels Bohr.
Sylvia Plath.
Honus Wagner.
and... :drumroll:
Leonardo Fibonacci.

Have I mentioned how much I love the show, and how much I'm going to miss it?

Cancelled? Our show was CANCELLED?? Alec and I just watched the recorded two-part finale a couple of days ago - and were really looking forward to next season...shudders in shock...and *Dick* was even starting to look like he might turn out to have human DNA. Vinnie Van Lowe might have won, and we'll never see what a horrible sheriff he would have made. This is serious bad news, pal.

There's some talk of a TV-movie to wrap up loose ends, but I can't see that being satisfying. I'm almost certain Vinnie would win the election, and playing that out properly really would need a full season.

Yeah, I'm bummed. But at least Ronnie made it to three seasons, which is better than most of the shows that have wowed me lately did: Wonderfalls, Firefly, Joan of Arcadia....

I wonder if bringing Jake Cane and his scary minion back on was one way of trying to complete a circle.

I owe you guys a Mexico post and Flist both an Annapolis AND Mexico post. Geez, I'm a procrastinator. Short version: it was really fun. Bonus: I didn't get a visit from the cast of usual bacterial suspects. :)
