Mama Bear
When I made my Waldorf salad last week, I used Braeburn apples, on a whim. I'd never tried them before.
Braeburn apples are the Mama Bear of apples, neither as tart as, say, Granny Smiths nor as sweet (and bland) as Delicious apples. Here, at least, they cost about twice as much as Delicious, but they're worth it.
This has been a Public Service Announcement.

I'm afraid I'm of the post-chip Illyan sort also. I tend to stick to the straight and narrow, i.e., things *I* already know about, and it's such a nice surprise when I find something that's new and delightful - to me! Keep posting about them; maybe I'll even try them sometime (g)!
