Overthinking

You know you're in some kind of trouble when, reading an "Ozy and Millie" strip in which Mr. Llewellyn is recounting a story about his Chinese ancestor Ped Xing, you find yourself trying to remember if any of the Chinese languages permit voiced stops in syllable-final position.

Hee hee! I was trying to figure out how you might pronounce it. My knowledge of Chinese being next to none, didn't figure it out at all.

The "X", in pinyin transcription, is kind of like a "sh", but with the tongue a bit further forward. The rest of it would be reasonably close to English pronunciation - except that that "d" really doesn't belong there.
