This is interesting: The Food Timeline. I haven't looked into it in depth, so I can't vouch for its accuracy in detail, but I did check one item - hot dogs - where a number of false stories circulate, and they do give (what I understand to be) the correct explanation, so I'm inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt.
