Simon Wiesenthal is dead.

(Why isn't there a mood icon for this feeling? Melancholy that he died, respect for what he was, hope springing from the fact that there are people like him? Is there even a word for it?)

I wonder how many of his fellow Nazi hunters have his personal, burning zeal. I hope there are numerous, but those remaining who *remember* are dwindling fast. Wiesenthal was, to me, a beacon of justice in a world that professes "never to forget," but which in fact has gone on with its inhabitants' respective lives. Maybe it was just that he had the charisma, which singled him out as the leader.

Rest in peace, Mr. Wiesenthal; you have earned a well-deserved rest.
