MEC ("Mountain Equipment Co-op", http://mec.ca) and REI (http://www.rei.com) have variously heavy-duty shopping totes.

The old MEC version, of which I have a dozen or so, are good for in excess of ten years continuous service. I have not tried the new version. (But it's post-brain-eater, so I wouldn't have similar expectations.)

I have got a year out of https://www.varusteleka.com/en/product/jama-m05-tote-bag/55440 so far; no sign of wear. I'd prefer slightly longer handles because it's hard to stuff the handles up over my shoulder in winter jackets. (Spring-and-fall jackets, not so much of a problem.)
