Oddly, about half the titles I guessed correctly based on the authorial style (Mary Shelley, for example) or from what I remembered of the main book (Niven's Wu)

I didn't keep track of numbers, but there were quite a few I guessed on style (and several more, of course, by process of elimination).

I'm embarrassed to admit that I missed The Fellowship of the Ring. I could have sworn the first line had to do with Bilbo's eleventy-first birthday.

I remember that one. The line was from The Hobbit. One of the tiny handful (like the opening line to Voyage of the Dawn Treader "His name was Eustace Clarence Scrubb--and he almost deserved it") that I know by heart.
