Midnight Draws Near
I took Murphy to the vet today to get his bordetella shot, preparatory to kennelling him during my August vacation.
After looking at him, the vet agreed to give him that shot, but said that there was no point to giving him a DHP shot. His weight loss over the last year suggests kidney trouble. Worse, the particular way in which he has trouble walking indicates neurological damage; a brain tumor heads the list of possibilities.
They took a blood sample; I'm awaiting the lab results, but it looks very likely that I will have to have him put down, probably before I leave for Madison.
I can't stand this.

I lost the first cat I raised from a kitten to what the vet first thought was a brain tumor. It was something more obscure, but still untreatable, so the result was the same. I had her put down when her eyes stopped looking confused and started looking afraid; I couldn't justify keeping her alive after that, no matter how much I didn't want to let her go.
((((hugs))))
It hurts to lose them, but sometimes it's the only right thing to do.
