Chaining

"If you believe in X, do Y. If you do not believe in X, don't do Y."

With all due respect: I do not do chain letters, and I do not do chain posts. You are not entitled to make any assumptions about me on the basis of my failure - my refusal - to do Y.

This is not an expression of anger, or of resentment. I just Don't Do That.

If you're referring to what I think you're referring to, it works for me.

Amen, brother!

It's just that old peer pressure thing in a new form. I didn't like it when I was 12 and I still don't like it at four times that age.

Yes: let's make LiveJournal even more unreadable.

Agreed. Life is too short.

And how does doing Y in LJ benefit X, anyway? Surely there are pro-X things to do in, y'know, real life that will be more effective.

Yeah. I might post I believe in X - I'm still thinking about that, because I don't care for the method you mention, but no way do I post the ridiculous syllogism.

[identity profile] stoutfellow.livejournal.com 2008-04-27 12:10 pm (UTC)(link)
That was the trigger, but not the cause. I get a fair amount of it from LJ and from other sources, and I just felt the need to make my stance clear.

We all have our triggers. I had a few of mine hit when I was visiting relatives yesterday.

I think it's part of being human.

I agree completely. In most cases, I think chain posts are like preaching to the choir anyway.

Now I'm hearing Sam Cooke doing "Chain Gang."

Ayup.

Though if it's a good friend, who asks me personally, as a favor, I'll sometimes make some kind of quasi-original post out of it.

But not the chain.
