Road Trip

I thought this was rather amusing. It's an article from 1936, written by a couple of Russians for the magazine Ogonek, describing their trip across the United States and back. (I found the article thanks to the entertaining people at Two Blowhards.)

This was wonderful! I especially loved the photos of "my" part of the country. I know NM Highway 62--it's the "southern route" to El Paso; I usually go through Ruidoso, though--and pretty close to where the travelers must have been when the photograph was taken: Judging by the distances to towns, they were about on the Texas/NM border, southwest of Carlsbad in the Guadalupe Mountains, not far from Carlsbad Caverns.

Just delightful. I'd love to read the whole book and see all the photos!

I really want to drive west. I've flown over but not driven. Starting late October, returning before Thanksgiving.
