Help Wanted - Help Not Wanted

I am sure that there are people for whom Windows Magnifier is useful.

I am not one of them.

Twice, now, the program has spontaneously started itself. I find it distracting. Worse, for some reason it rearranges my desktop.

The Help box doesn't say how to turn it off. The online Help says that, with the Magnifier dialog box open, hitting "Exit" or typing Alt-X will turn it off.

It doesn't. I have had to reboot to get rid of the annoying thing.

Help?

You could maybe uninstall it - Start, Settings, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, click on the "Add/Remove Windows Components" button. Then there should be a set of Accessibility Options, where you can deselect Windows Magnifier to get rid of it. Unfortunately, I won't have time to be able to look at a computer where I have rights for that screen until Thursday - give a yell if you can't find it?

I'll keep this in mind. My first reaction was that uninstalling would be a bit drastic, but thinking about it, a) it's unlikely that I'll come to need it during the lifetime of this computer, and b) there are apparently better products on the market anyway. So, maybe.... If it happens again, I may follow your suggestion.
