Miscellaneous Musical Notes

Listening to Elvis. Wondering if anyone's ever written a Lovecraftean pastiche, "Are You Loathsome Tonight?".

I just ordered a Tommy James and the Shondells album. (The name evokes bubblegum in my mind, but this is the group that did "Crimson and Clover", "Draggin' the Line", and "Crystal Blue Persuasion". Pop it may be, but bubblegum it is not.)

I'm thinking I should add some more jazz to my collection. I know a lot of the big names, but are there any jazz fans out there who can recommend specific albums? (Maybe I should go after some big band stuff, too....)

Edited to fix the name of one song

Miles Davis, ESP?

Ellington in the 20's.

Have you any feel for Latin Jazz at all?

And, um, check out New Orleans any old time.

Do you like your jazz slow or fast & snappy? If the latter, check out Louis Armstrong with the Hot 5 or Hot 7. It's New Orleans jazz from the 1920s. If you remind me, I can put up some sample selections for you to check out [sometimes Amazon doesn't have as many audio clips as they should].

Do you like instrumental or vocals?
