Bananas...

Lately I've been making a point of buying fresh fruit - peaches, pears, bananas. (I've grown less fond of apples and oranges, for various reasons.) Naturally, I share bits with the dogs when I'm eating them. Ben begs every time, but it seems that he doesn't like fruit in general. (The first time I gave him a bit of banana, he took it in his mouth and then... He didn't drop it. I swear, he threw it - snapped his head around as he released; the banana-bit flew a foot, foot and a half.) Murphy, though, will take anything I'll give him.

A few minutes ago, I tossed a chunk of banana at Murphy; I misjudged the throw, and it landed beyond him. He glanced around the floor in front of him. Seeing nothing, he looked up at me again. I said, "It's behind you." He looked down again, ponderously turned around, spotted the banana and gobbled it up.

I know, I know, dogs really don't understand language; he probably interpreted my "blah blah Ginger" as a command to look again, and sensibly looked where he hadn't looked before. Still, it was funny to see.
