Hmm. The pluralization issue is a tricky one; the sentence "He's a Red Sox" is at least marginally acceptable (although I think I'd be more likely to say, "He's one of the Red Sox"), and "He's a Red Sock" definitely isn't. (Mass nouns are even trickier. How does one refer to someone who plays for the Miami Heat?)
